EU Asks Citizens’ Help for Blockchain

EU collects opinions from every interested citizen regarding blockchain and its uses. The collected opinions will contribute to the regulatory framework, which will be issued from the EU and will become effective to every state – member. The open form opened in December 2019 and will close on March 19th, 2020.

The regulatory process in the EU is expected to be long and complicated as there are many interests to be served from investors, companies, individuals, and governments.

In the form, many banks and organizations (like Commercial Union of Spain) emphasize on crypto-asset definition and financial markets’ infrastructure regarding innovation. In parallel, issues have been brought up like consumer protection in crypto investments. The final regulatory framework is expected to become a reality in Q3 2020.
