What is Verge ?

Verge is a cryptocurrency, operating in a decentralized open-source base, which goal is to ensure private and anonymous transactions for every user. The transactions’ anonymity can be achieved through geolocation user hiding and IP address encryption.

The hiding is achieved through the use of decentralized networks, based on peer-to-peer technologies, like Tor and I2P. Those networks allow users to hide their IP addresses while the users that want to reveal their transactions record can do it through a transparent and trustworthy way.

The project starts as DogeCoinDark in 2014 and change its brand to Verge in 2016. The software behind it is open-source and it is developed by its community from its start. The lead developer of the project start with the pseudonym Sunerok and after a couple of years, he revealed its real name, Justin Vendetta. The funding for the project didn’t came from an ICO (Initial Coin Offering) or a pre-mining process.

One of the core characteristics of Verge is the co-existence of private and public ledgers in the same blockchain structure. This feature attracts many profitable partnerships like Pornhub and Brazzers (adult content sites), which bring popularity and users to the project.
