New Interest for CBDCs in Latin and Caribbean

CBDCs were for a long time, one of the hottest topics in the crypto world, given that crypto prices didn’t show any particular interest.

 

When the crypto prices surged again, CBDCs went back to second fate. But International Monetary Fund (IMF) decided to bring them again in the scene, with a specific report.

 

The report was about Latin America and Caribbean and how CBDCs can help with their development.

 

The main points on the report is the potential reduction of remittance fees from abroad and larger financial inclusion in people that don’t have access in the financial system.

 

Right now, those gaps were covered partially from cryptos in those countries and the report made a special reference regarding regulations that should be implemented.

 

Maybe we observe an “experiment” in some of those countries…..
