New Rules for Cryptos ?

The Basel Committee is the regulatory authority for every bank in the world and its responsibility is focused on how banks are acting in terms of capital capacity.

In the last days, there is more and more mobility in the crypto section. More specifically, it’s expected that there should be a certain percentage of capital in cryptos that could be held from a bank.

The proposal (probably effective from 1^st January 2025) don’t let banks to overcome 2 % of holdings in cryptos while the main direction is for less than 1 %.

The market has already thought that 1 % is too restrictive for the market as there wouldn’t be enough capital for inflowing.

Already FTX has brought the market upside down and many billions are on the line at institutional level.
