Vodafone leaves Libra Association

After large companies depart from Libra Association like PayPal, Visa, Mastercard, and eBay, it’s time for Vodafone, one of the biggest telecoms worldwide, to abandon the Libra Association.

The announcement came out on Tuesday 21 January and stated that Vodafone will continue to monitor the development of Libra Network and it does not exclude future collaboration with it.

The main reason behind Vodafone’s decision to opt-out from Libra partnership is to focus on its own digital payments platform, M – Pesa. In parallel, the regulatory framework seems to become stricter and this could also be an influencing factor for this decision.

Libra seems to keep strong even after the departures from the alliance and ensured media that the launch will be in 2020, with over 1,500 in the waiting list. The opposition from many governments against Libra Association will shape the future in the crypto industry.
